SUMMARY:Food Sustainability Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Food sustainability workshop specially for young people aged 13-18. Room 1\, upstairs at the Cheese and Grain. \nDoes it matter where your food comes from? This interactive workshop helps young people explore issues surrounding food production. We’ll consider different points of view\, develop our own opinions on this issue and discuss what can be done to make food production more environmentally friendly. \nOrla (14 years old) described our last workshop as “an eye-opening experience\, it was really fun!” \nJoin Katie from Science Boost CIC to explore this important topic with other young people. You’ll also hear from Hugh Thomas\, a food writer\, about things already happening locally around food sustainability with the Frome Food Network. \nThis workshop is brought to you by Science Boost working in partnership with Future Shed as part of the Green and Healthy Frome programme. \nWhat will happen in the workshop: \nParticipants will develop their ability to listen respectfully\, learn from others’ perspectives and have empathy and compassion to those with differing views to themselves. They are encouraged to reconsider their opinions and views. Participants will learn how to have difficult conversations and disagree with one another in a calm and measured way. They’ll build their discussion skills and learn to back up their opinions with facts and data. \nParticipants will leave this workshop with greater knowledge about climate change and with positive ideas for how individuals and organisations can have an impact on our planet and health. \nThe debate will be facilitated by Katie Marshall\, a Science Educator from Science Boost CIC. When booking a ticket\, your details will be shared with Science Boost CIC. \nScience Boost’s Privacy Policy can be found here. \nFind Science Boost on Facebook. \nPlease complete this order as the young person who will be participating\, not the parent or carer. We ask you to answer questions in the order form about the parent / carer contact details. Thank you! \nBook your space. \nPart of Great Big Green Week 2023. \n
