DESCRIPTION:Night River Presents: Hattie Whitehead & DG Solaris \nHattie Whitehead is an incredible songwriter with a disarmingly beautiful voice. Hattie was born into a family that held music\, poetry\, creativity and expression at its core. The daughter of a jazz musician and a poet\, her family’s diverse favourite artists\, from Paul Simon to Miles Davis provided a solid musical grounding that significantly shaped her melodic and heartfelt style. Her jazz inflections have drawn comparisons to some of the musical greats she grew up listening to – Joni Mitchell\, Nick Drake\, John Martyn and Jeff Buckley. Her love of modern alternative\, folk and indie bands has further developed a style comparable to current artists such as Bon Iver\, Laura Marling\, Jose Gonzalez and The Staves. What they all have in common are melody\, emotion\, soulfulness and honesty. \nFollowing the release of her debut EP ‘Home’ in 2015\, Hattie had radio play on BBC London and Amazing Radio before winning third prize in Glastonbury’s Emerging Talent Competition.
