DESCRIPTION:Join us at Make:Shed for our Individual Patch Making workshop –  the second of three workshops\, to create a collaborative stitched art work \nThu\, 6 Jun 2024  \n18:00 – 21:00 BST  \nAt the Edventure Hub\, Frome \nBook here: linktr.ee/makeshedfrome  \nIn this session\, we’re building on the stitching skills from the previous session (or utilising your existing stitching skills)\, and we’ll begin the design and creation of the individual patches which will combine to form a shared art work. \nYou’ll be introduced to methods for joining patchwork pieces\, as well as learning about the context of patchwork. \nNo previous experience necessary\, all tools and materials will be provided. \nThis workshop is the first of three in our Community Art Creation series –you’ll get the most from it if you come along to all 3 sessions.\n[This workshop] Stitching Taster Session – May 30\nLearn textiles techniques in preprepration for creating your own unique design \nIndividual Patch Making – June 6\nDesign and create patches which will combine to form a shared art work. Learn methods for joining patchwork pieces\, and the context of patchwork. \nGroup Construction – June 20\nComplete your individual textile sample\, and explore how to bring our individual pieces together to create a shared art work. We’ll discuss methods for joining fabric pieces as well as learning about the context of patchwork. \nWhat is MakeShed? 🌟 \nMake:Shed is a weekly workshop & community for young adults (18-35-ish) in Frome and surrounding areas. It’s a safe\, welcoming space to be yourself\, connect with others and express your creativity. We run workshops every Thursday\, 6-9pm at the Edventure Hub\, Frome. \nWhatever creativity sparks your joy\, you’ll find a place to express yourself at make:shed. \nTutor: Cassie Morris \nCassie is Programme Lead for Make:Shed. She joined Edventure after taking part in the Edventure Start-Up course in 2019. She is passionate about re-using\, reimagining and upcycling items that could otherwise be heading for landfill; making instead of buying\, as well as bringing people together to inspire creativity\, share skills\, build confidence and improve wellbeing. \nTutor: Amala Finch \nAmala is an Artist Educator based in Frome\, Somerset. Amala teaches across a range of disciplines including experimental drawing\, printmaking & textiles. She runs Tabula Rasa – a small teaching studio offering 1:1 tutoring supporting teenagers\, adults and home educators with their creative practice. \nAmala is passionate about lifelong and community learning and has worked with Edventure since 2019. \nAccessibility notice : \nDue to the age and design of the building\, the Edventure Hub is impossible to access for wheeled users\, and we apologise for this. The Edventure Hub is accessed via two short flights of stairs (around 12 steps in total with a turn). There is no lift available. There is no accessible toilet.
