SUMMARY:Melin Melyn
DESCRIPTION:Melin Melyn are more than a band—they’re storytellers and world-builders. Their debut album\, Mill On The Hill\, blends surf-rock\, country\, prog-rock\, and psychedelia into a concept-driven experience set in the whimsical Melin Village\, where six millers create music to power their utopian world. \nFormed in 2019\, the Welsh six-piece\, led by Gruff Glyn\, quickly gained attention with their EPs Blomonj and Happy Gathering\, and performances championed by BBC 6Music’s Marc Riley. The band’s theatrical live shows and narrative arcs have drawn acclaim from outlets like The Guardian and The Financial Times. \nThe album features standout tracks like “Vitamin D\,” a sunny yet darkly humorous surf-rock tune; “Fantastic Food\,” a prog-rock exploration of love and loneliness; and “Promised Land\,” a heartfelt country ballad. Songs like “The Pigeon & The Golden Egg” and “Running On MT” mix absurdism with reflection\, while “18-30” critiques escapist rituals. With Mill On The Hill\, Melin Melyn create a safe\, imaginative space for listeners\, offering escapism and introspection through their dynamic\, genre-defying sound. \nSUPPORT FROM BITW \nBitw is the solo project of reluctant veteran of the Welsh language music scene\, Gruff ab Arwel. His off-kilter yet tuneful songs\, described as “sci-fi mountain music” by Cate Le Bon\, blend warped pop structures with a unique melodic sensibility into something raw\, personal\, and quietly strange. \nThe white headless guitar he wields onstage belies his gentle lo-fi sensibilities and understated performances. Whether collaborating or working alone\, Gruff’s strength lies in his ability to find beauty in imperfection and comfort in discomfort\, making music that’s both familiar and subtly otherworldly. \nPlease note this is an 18+ event\, and the venue is accessed by stairs with no lift. If you have any enquiries please email thetreehouse@cheeseandgrain.com \n
